Mining Company Partners with Rock Mechanics Institute for Advanced Controlled Blasting Technology Development
A private mining company and the National Institute of Rock Mechanics signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on controlled blasting projects across India. The partnership aims to advance blasting technologies in mining and infrastructure sectors by combining the mining company's expertise in controlled blasting with the research institute's technical capabilities in rock mechanics. The collaboration addresses India's growing need for precision-controlled blasting in coal mining and infrastructure development, with an estimated 20-30 million tonnes of coal remaining inaccessible due to geological complexities. Both organizations are currently working together on a 500 MW pumped storage project and have previously collaborated at a nuclear power plant site. The partnership is expected to enhance productivity, safety, and sustainability in India's mining and infrastructure sectors while contributing to national development objectives.
