Cyber fraud gang stole Aadhaar PAN details to issue fake SIM cards for foreign scammers
Police in Uttar Pradesh uncovered a cyber fraud racket that stole Indian citizens' identities to facilitate crimes committed from Southeast Asian countries. The gang fraudulently obtained SIM cards using stolen Aadhaar and PAN details, then provided OTPs to foreign cybercriminals for online scams and human trafficking operations. One accused issued 873 SIM cards by collecting fingerprints under false pretenses of government welfare enrollment. Another activated over 1,000 SIMs as a telecom agent while deceiving customers. Two women received over 1,700 SIM cards and delivered OTPs for payments. The investigation began after a complaint about misused Aadhaar credentials for unauthorized SIM issuance.
