The details of Capital Market Exposure (including private equity), Real Estate Exposure by Public Sector Banks (PSBs) for the period ending March 2010,2011 and 2012, as reported by Reserve Bank of India are given as under:-

The returns on investment are governed by market situation and overall economic conditions prevailing at a given point in time. The investments are done by PSBs and PSICs out of the funds available with them.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Finance, Shri Namo Narain Meena in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.

Public sector bank and insurer asset exposures disclosed, showing capital market, real estate and investment allocations and market-driven returns. Public sector banks disclosed aggregated exposures to capital markets and real estate for March 2010-2012; public sector insurance companies disclosed aggregate investments in venture funds, housing and immovable property for the same period. Returns on these investments are governed by market and economic conditions, and investments were made from the institutions' available funds; the figures were provided in response to a parliamentary question as part of regulatory reporting of asset allocations.Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
