The Government has issued guidelines for setting up coal washeries on public sector coal companies’ land to bridge the demand-supply gap of washed coal.
The details of private washeries operating in coal companies’ land are as under:-

In addition, Coal India Limited (CIL) has planned to set up 20 nos. of coal washeries (Coking and Non-Coking) having total capacity of 111.1 Mt of raw coal throughput.
This information was given by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Coal, Shri Pratik Prakashbapu Patil in a written reply in Rajya sabha today.

Coal washery guidelines permit washeries on public sector land to increase washed coal supply and capacity. Guidelines permit coal washeries on public sector coal company land to bridge washed coal supply gaps, noting existing private washeries by operator, capacity and status. Coal India Limited plans a programme of twenty washeries including both coking and non coking facilities to increase aggregate raw coal throughput, communicated via a ministerial written reply as an administrative development initiative.
