Import of Almonds during the last four years and the current year with corresponding revenue collection is as under:

It is observed that the import of Almonds during April- September 2011-12 was 34,341.25 MT whereas its import during the same period during 2012-13 is 36,272.90 MT thereby showing a growth of 5.62%.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Dr. D. Purandeswari in written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.

Almond import growth drives higher customs revenue and shows a short term seasonal increase in imports compared to prior year. Increase in almond imports and associated customs revenue is reported across successive years, with annual import volumes, growth rates and corresponding revenue receipts tabulated; the 2012-13 figures are provisional. A seasonal comparison notes a 5.62% increase in imports for April-September 2012-13 over the same period in 2011-12.
