Education loan complaints prompt corrective measures and reliance on model educational loan scheme to support meritorious students. Public sector banks reported receipt and disposition of education loan complaints for 2011-12, with most matters disposed and a small number pending; banks undertake corrective measures upon receiving complaints. The Model Educational Loan Scheme of the Indian Banks' Association serves to provide affordable bank finance to meritorious but poor students for higher education in India and abroad.
