of <h1>Japan's Chief Trade Negotiator to Meet US Officials About Removing Tariffs on Cars, Auto Parts, Steel and Aluminum</h1> Japan's chief trade negotiator will visit Washington to discuss removal of US tariffs against Japan. Economic Revitalisation Minister will meet with US Treasury Secretary and Trade Representative to build trust and request dropping tariff measures. While a 90-day pause was announced on the 24% across-the-board tariff, the 10% baseline tariff and 25% tariff on cars, auto parts, steel, and aluminum remain. The Prime Minister described the situation as 'a national crisis' but cautioned against rushing negotiations. Japan seeks cooperation with other free-trade supporting countries and has held talks with Singapore and UK leaders.
