Planning Commission has informed that an investment of Rs. 20,56,150 crore by Centre, State and private sector was projected during the Eleventh Plan (2007-12) in infrastructure (defined to include electricity (including non-conventional energy), telecommunications, roads & bridges, railways (including Mass Rapid Transit System), ports (including Inland Waterways), airports, irrigation (including Watershed Development), water supply & sanitation, storage and oil & gas pipelines) against which an investment of Rs. 19,07,579 crore is anticipated. The break-up of projections and anticipated achievements in Infrastructure during Eleventh Plan are indicated below:
