Government Approves Extra Free Food Grains for Larger AAY Households to Ensure 10kg Per Beneficiary
The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved additional free food grains to Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) households with four or more members under the public distribution system. Currently, AAY households receive 35 kg of food grains monthly for free, but the new initiative will ensure up to 10 kg per beneficiary. Additional allocations include 5 kg for four-member families, 15 kg for five-member families, and 25 kg for six-member households. Rice will be provided based on availability under the open market sale scheme. The Finance department will provide additional budgetary support for implementation, with plans to explore wheat and flour options in the future.
