<h1>Freight Milestone: East Coast Railway Loads 259.254 Million Tonnes in 2024-25, Marking Sixth Year Above 200 Million Tonnes</h1> East Coast Railway (ECoR) achieved a new record by loading 259.254 million tonnes of freight in the 2024-25 financial year, becoming the first Railway Zone in India to surpass the 259 million-tonne mark. This represents a 1.2% growth (3.034 million tonnes increase) compared to 2023-24, marking the sixth consecutive year ECoR has exceeded 200 million tonnes. Despite challenges, the zone handled diverse commodities including coal (153.271 MT), iron ore (32.476 MT), steel and slag (21.381 MT), and various other goods. The achievement was supported by MCL coalfields at Talcher, five major ports, and key industrial sectors.
