Muslims Protest Waqf Act Amendment During Eid Celebrations, Wearing Black Armbands Following AIMPLB Call
Eid celebrations in Madhya Pradesh were marked by protests, with some Muslims wearing black armbands opposing the Waqf Act amendment. Eyewitnesses reported seeing an 'I stand with Palestine' placard at one mosque. The protests followed a call by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board. Similar demonstrations occurred during the last Friday prayers of Ramzan. Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, previously referred to a joint parliamentary committee, will be reintroduced in the current Parliament session ending April 4. The Bill was initially introduced by Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, with opposition MPs filing dissent notes against the committee's report.
