Natural Gas Prices Increase 4% to USD 6.75 per MMBtu for Legacy Fields Under New Pricing Formula
The government has increased the price of natural gas produced from old legacy fields (APM) by 4% to USD 6.75 per million British thermal units, effective April 1. This is the first price hike in two years, following the government's 2023 decision to price domestically produced natural gas at 10% of monthly average crude oil import prices, with established floor and ceiling prices. The ceiling will increase by USD 0.25 annually until 2027. APM gas is used for household cooking, CNG for vehicles, fertilizer production, and electricity generation. The rate for difficult fields has been set at USD 10.04 per MMBtu for the next six months.
