At an Amazon warehouse, over 3,500 electrical items, including geysers and mixers valued at Rs 70 lakh, were confiscated. A separate raid at a Flipkart subsidiary seized 590 pairs of sports footwear worth Rs 6 lakh. These actions are part of a nationwide initiative to enforce product quality standards. Currently, 769 product categories require mandatory certification, and non-compliance can lead to legal penalties under the BIS Act of 2016. Amazon and Flipkart have not commented on the raids.
