Expired Fertilizer Seized; 87 Licenses Canceled and FIRs Lodged for Seed Rule Violations in Agriculture Crackdown
A Punjab Agriculture Department team seized 111 bags of expired fertilizers in Fazilka district during a routine inspection at the Panjawa Model Cooperative Agriculture Service Society Limited. A complaint was filed against a seed dealer in Malerkotla for violating the Seed (Control) Order 1983 and the Seed Rules 1968. The team found gypsum and urea fertilizers stored together and collected samples for testing. Additionally, a store in Malerkotla was raided for selling maize seeds without a valid license or bills. Consequently, 87 fertilizer dealer licenses were canceled, and eight FIRs were lodged during 2024-25.
