The rise is attributed to higher acreage. The Agriculture Ministry's Second Advance Estimates also forecast record production for other crops, including kharif rice at 1,206.79 lakh tonnes and rabi rice at 157.58 lakh tonnes. Shree Anna, nutri/coarse cereals, tur, gram, lentils, oilseeds, soyabean, rapeseed, mustard, cotton, and sugarcane are also expected to see increased outputs. The government emphasizes ongoing support and schemes to boost agricultural production.
