Based on the investigation carried out by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the adjudicating authority has issued Show Cause Notices under Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA) to BCCI & its officials for the contraventions of the relevant provisions of the said Act as per details below:-

11 Show Cause Notices issued involving an amount of Rs.1317.20 Crore in the year 2011.

01 Show Cause Notice issued involving an amount of Rs. 106 Crore in the year 2012.

The passport of Shri Lalit Modi, former IPL Chairman, was revoked by the Passport Officer on 03.03.2011 under Section 10(3) of the Passport Act, 1967.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Finance, Shri S.S. Palanimanickam, in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.

Show Cause Notices under FEMA issued to a cricket board and officials over alleged foreign exchange contraventions, prompting inquiry. Enforcement Directorate investigations led the adjudicating authority to issue Show Cause Notices under the Foreign Exchange Management Act to the Board of Control for Cricket in India and certain officials for alleged contraventions; eleven notices were issued in 2011 and one in 2012, with contested sums specified, and a former official's passport was revoked under the Passport Act, 1967.
