The Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) Project aims to create new industrial cities with manufacturing as the key economic driver. It passes through the 6 States of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The preparation of the Perspective Plan for the overall DMIC region is complete. Land acquisition process has been initiated by all the DMIC States, except Uttar Pradesh. Financial and Institutional Structure for development of the industrial cities in DMIC has been approved by the Government of India on 15th September, 2011.
The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor being constructed by the Railways is targeted for commissioning in March, 2017.
A Concept Note has been prepared by the Ministry of Urban Development for inclusive economic development along the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor of Railways.
This information was given by the Minister of State of Commerce and Industry, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.

Land acquisition as the enabling mechanism for corridor industrial development, paired with institutional approvals and railway corridors. The Perspective Plan for the DMIC region is complete and participating States, except one, have initiated the land acquisition process; the Government of India has approved the financial and institutional structure to support industrial-city development.
