Uttarakhand's Chief Minister thanks Prime Minister for approving major ropeway projects to boost pilgrimage site access.
Uttarakhand's Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister following the approval of two significant ropeway projects in the state. The projects, part of the National Ropeway Development Program, include a 12.9-km ropeway from Sonprayag to Kedarnath and a 12.4-km ropeway from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib, costing Rs 4,081.28 crore and Rs 2,730.13 crore respectively. These developments aim to facilitate easier access for devotees to these pilgrimage sites, significantly reducing travel time. The Kedarnath ropeway will accommodate 18,000 passengers daily, while the Hemkund Sahib ropeway will serve 11,000 passengers daily, enhancing the winter Chardham yatra.
