Women in Bihar Transform into Agri-Entrepreneurs, Boosting Community Resilience with Climate Solutions and Sustainable Farming Practices
In rural Bihar, women have transitioned from homemakers to agri-entrepreneurs, significantly impacting their communities by addressing climate challenges. These women work with numerous small farmers, providing solutions like irrigation advice, climate-resilient seeds, and crop diversification. Supported by the JEEVIKA program, over 5,178 agri-entrepreneurs assist more than 800,000 farmers, covering 221,000 acres. They offer seeds, equipment, and services, generating profits and promoting sustainable farming practices. Despite challenges like high technology costs, these women plan to expand their ventures, empowering more women and enhancing community resilience against climate change.
