Mizoram's Agriculture Push: FOCUS Project to Boost Income for 55,000 Households with Climate-Resilient Farming Initiatives
The Mizoram government is prioritizing agriculture to enhance sustainable crop productivity, according to the Governor. The FOCUS project aims to boost agricultural income for 55,000 households through climate-resilient farming across six districts. The 'Bana Kaih' scheme, launched last September, supports entrepreneurs and farmers with financial aid and loans, introducing a minimum support price for crops like ginger and turmeric. The state has covered 1,734 hectares under the NMEO-Oil Palm initiative and plans to expand minor irrigation projects. Additionally, a memorandum was signed for organic value chain development, and new irrigation projects are set to commence soon.
