<h1>PNB Reports Rs 270.57 Crore Loan Fraud by Gupta Power Infrastructure, Despite Doubling Net Profit in December Quarter.</h1> Punjab National Bank (PNB) reported a loan fraud of Rs 270.57 crore by Gupta Power Infrastructure Ltd to the Reserve Bank of India. The fraud pertains to a non-performing asset account at the bank's Station Square branch in Bhubaneswar. PNB has made provisions for the entire amount in accordance with prudential norms. Despite this setback, PNB's net profit for the December quarter more than doubled to Rs 4,508 crore, with total income rising to Rs 34,752 crore. The bank's gross non-performing assets ratio improved to 4.09% from 6.24% a year ago.
