The NCRTC, India's first regional rapid rail project, began operations on January 5, following the inauguration of a 13-km section by the Prime Minister. The current budget allocation is Rs 2,918 crore, a decrease from the previous year's revised estimate of Rs 3,855 crore. The project enables commuters to travel from Delhi to Meerut South in 40 minutes, with two operational stations in Delhi and a third under construction. The 82-km corridor features 16 stations and nine additional stations for the Meerut metro.
