Meghalaya Approves Pla Tangka Cooperative Society to Boost SHGs' Access to Funds, Empower Women, and Drive Economic Growth.
The Meghalaya cabinet has approved the establishment of the Pla Tangka Cooperative Society (PTCS) to enhance the financial ecosystem for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the state. This initiative aims to simplify access to funds for SHGs, bypassing the complex loan processes of banks. PTCS will serve as a financial intermediary, fostering grassroots entrepreneurship and economic development. Inspired by Telangana's Stree Nidhi Model, PTCS is expected to significantly contribute to Meghalaya's GDP by increasing access to capital. Supported by the Centre for Research in Schemes & Policies, PTCS aims to empower women and boost rural economic growth.
