Directorate General of Trade Remedies
In the foreign trade policy 2009-14, the Central Government has proposed to set up a Directorate of Trade Remedy Measures to enable support to Indian industry and exporters, especially the MSMEs, in safeguarding their interests through trade remedy instruments under the WTO framework. The Directorate of Trade Remedy Measures performs the following functions:-
• Conduct anti-dumping investigations.
• Conduct anti-subsidy/CVD investigations.
• Take Anti-circumvention Measures.
• Attend Litigation matters before different Tribunals/Courts
• Hold Workshops and Seminars to disseminate information on trade remedy measures to the stakeholders.
The objective of the Directorate of Trade Remedy Measures is to support Indian Industry and exporters, especially the MSMEs to safeguard their interests through different trade remedy instruments mentioned above which are measures outlined under the WTO framework. They help in providing a level playing field to our Industry and exporters, so they can compete effectively against the imported goods in the domestic market.
