The Union Finance Minister revealed the continuation of the Backward Regions Grant Fund with a 22% budget increase to Rs. 12,040 crores for the 12th plan. To address malnutrition due to poor sanitation and water quality, the budget for rural drinking water and sanitation will rise from Rs. 11,000 crores to Rs. 14,000 crores. Additionally, Rs. 5,000 crores will be allocated for rural warehousing facilities from the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund.
