Since 2014, India improved its World Bank Doing Business Report ranking from 142nd to 63rd in 2019. DPIIT's Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) assesses state and union territory reforms, focusing on streamlining regulations and eliminating unnecessary procedures. Key initiatives include simplifying procedures, rationalizing laws, digitizing processes, and decriminalizing minor offenses. The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2023, decriminalized 183 provisions, fostering a business-friendly environment. This was detailed by the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry in a Lok Sabha reply.
