<h1>India's Dormant Companies Drop to 156,474; No Plans for Long-term Vision Registration, Says Minister of Corporate Affairs.</h1> The Ministry of Corporate Affairs in India identifies companies as dormant if they have not filed their Annual Returns and Balance Sheets for three consecutive years or more. As of March 31, 2011, there were 174,400 dormant companies, which decreased to 156,474 by December 7, 2011. The government currently has no plans to ensure that only companies with a long-term vision are registered. This information was provided by the Minister of State for the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
