Approval has been granted for a new institute in Kannur, Kerala, and plans are underway to establish another in Shantipur, West Bengal. Additionally, two new campuses of the National Institute of Fashion Technology were inaugurated in 2010, located in Jodhpur and Bhubaneswar. These expansions are in accordance with the NIFT Act, 2006, which empowers the institute's board to establish new campuses. This information was disclosed by a government official in response to a parliamentary query.
