India to Establish Spice Park in Kota, Rajasthan to Boost Competitiveness Against Vietnam, China, and Indonesia.
India is facing significant competition in the spice market from countries like Vietnam, China, and Indonesia due to their high productivity and low production costs. Despite this, Indian spices command a premium price globally because of their intrinsic quality. To boost competitiveness, the Indian government has approved the establishment of a Spice Park in Kota, Rajasthan, under the ASIDE Scheme, with a financial backing of Rs.10 crore. The Rajasthan government has allocated 12.14 hectares of land for this project, which will focus on infrastructure and processing facilities for seed spices, particularly coriander and cumin.
