<h1>RBI Reports 48% Growth in Credit to Minority Communities; Urges Banks to Enhance Loan Access and Monitoring.</h1> The Reserve Bank of India reported a 48% increase in credit facilities provided to minority communities by scheduled commercial banks from March 2009 to March 2011, with amounts rising from Rs. 96,801.60 crore to Rs. 143,513.73 crore. In a master circular issued on July 1, 2011, the RBI instructed banks to enhance loan availability to these communities by establishing special cells and appointing nodal officers. The circular also outlines methods for monitoring credit distribution to minority communities. This information was disclosed by a government official in response to a parliamentary question.
