Finance Minister Launches e-Bill System to Digitize Government Bill Submissions, Boost Transparency, and Cut Paper Use.
The Finance Minister launched the e-Bill system on the 46th Civil Accounts Day to digitize bill submissions and processing for Central Government Ministries. This initiative aims to eliminate paper-based submissions, reduce physical interactions between suppliers and government officials, and enhance processing efficiency through a First-In-First-Out method. The system allows vendors to submit bills online and track their status, promoting transparency and convenience. Initially implemented in nine ministries, it will expand to others in 2022-23. Developed by the Public Financial Management System Division, the e-Bill system supports Digital India and environmental sustainability by reducing paper usage.
