The Government of India has designated the interim Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) to implement the New Pension System (NPS). To encourage retirement savings among the unorganized sector, the Swavalamban Scheme was introduced, with the government contributing Rs.1,000 to each NPS account. NABARD will provide a Rs.50 crore grant to PFRDA for promotional activities related to the Swavalamban Scheme.
