Some Insurers Selling Policies Online, But No Plans for Exclusive Online Sales Says IRDA; All Channels Still Available.
The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) has reported that some insurance companies are selling products online in addition to traditional methods. There is currently no proposal for insurers to sell all their policies exclusively online. Insurance can be purchased through various channels, including face-to-face, telecalling, and online, with online sales offering convenience without intermediaries. Claim settlements are based on policy terms, not the sales mode, ensuring online-purchased policies are treated the same as those bought through other methods. This was stated by a government official in response to a parliamentary question.
