<h1>Excise Duty Hike on Petrol and Diesel Fuels Infrastructure Projects; Prices Rise Significantly Over Three Months.</h1> The excise duty rates on petrol and diesel have been adjusted to fund infrastructure and developmental projects, according to the Minister of State for Finance. Petrol prices rose by Rs. 3.83 per litre in May, Rs. 4.58 in June, and Rs. 2.73 in July 2021, while diesel prices increased by Rs. 4.42, Rs. 4.03, and Rs. 0.69 per litre during the same months. The government collected Rs. 94,181 crore in excise duty on these fuels in the first quarter of the fiscal year. The excise duty on petrol and diesel was previously increased to offset the impact of low international oil prices during the pandemic.
