India Launches Electoral Bond Scheme for Political Donations; Valid April 1-10, 2021 at 29 SBI Branches.
The Government of India has implemented the Electoral Bond Scheme 2018, allowing Indian citizens and entities to purchase electoral bonds for political donations. Eligible political parties, registered under the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and securing at least one percent of votes in the last general election, can encash these bonds through authorized State Bank of India branches. The Election Commission has approved this under certain conditions related to the Model Code of Conduct. The bonds, valid for 15 days, are available from April 1 to April 10, 2021, across 29 SBI branches nationwide.
