The operation involved over 30 firms managed by an individual who issued fraudulent invoices to pass on fake Input Tax Credit (ITC) of Rs. 42 crore. These firms, often non-existent or non-functional, were used to evade taxes on building materials. During searches, authorities seized incriminating documents and Rs. 2.23 crore in cash. The accused was arrested and remanded in custody. The CGST Meerut has exposed fake billing exceeding Rs. 3500 crore, with six arrests and significant currency seizures as part of their ongoing efforts against GST evasion.
