<h1>Loan Disbursements to Indian Small Farmers Rise: 38.3% in 2011, Self Help Groups See Fluctuating Credit Access.</h1> Government financial institutions and Self Help Groups in India have been increasing their loan disbursements to small and marginal farmers over the past few years. In the financial year 2009-10, 30.76% of total loans were allocated to these farmers, rising to 36.53% in 2010-11, and further to 38.3% by May 2011. Additionally, the number of Self Help Groups receiving credit and the total loan amounts disbursed have shown fluctuations, with 16.10 lakh groups receiving Rs. 12,253.51 crore in 2008-09, and 12.23 lakh groups receiving Rs. 14,492 crore in 2010-11.
