<h1>Corporate Affairs Minister Reports Thousands of Companies Act Violations; Pending Cases in Magisterial Courts.</h1> The Minister of State in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs reported to the Lok Sabha that prosecutions for violations of the Companies Act, 1956, totaled 17,080 in 2007-08, 13,971 in 2008-09, and 9,021 in 2009-10. The number of cases disposed of in those years were 6,993, 10,506, and 7,647, respectively. Pending cases are at various stages in Magisterial Courts, involving economic offences outside the jurisdiction of the Company Law Board. The Minister addressed a query regarding government actions against companies violating the Act over the past three years.
