11,69,238 Multiple Pan Cards Detected and Deleted

The Department has identified the multiple PANs belonging to the same person through an automated Computer System of the Department. Till date 11,69,238 multiple PANs have been detected and deleted.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Finance, Shri S.S.Palanimanickam in written reply to an Unstarred Question in Lok Sabha today.

Multiple PAN detection prompts automated deletion of duplicate tax identity records to preserve PAN database integrity. The Department employed an automated computerized process to identify multiple PANs held by the same person; 11,69,238 duplicate PANs have been detected and deleted as an administrative measure to preserve PAN database integrity and consolidate taxpayer identities. of Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
