The RCEP aims to enhance cooperation in goods, services, investments, and intellectual property among its 16 member countries, including ASEAN nations and their partners like India, China, and Japan. India, already having trade agreements with ASEAN, Japan, and South Korea, is negotiating similar deals with Australia and New Zealand. The country seeks to liberalize norms in services trade, which constitutes 55% of its GDP, aiming for a balanced agreement covering significant global GDP and population.
