India's Fund of Funds for Startups Boosts Investment via SEBI-Registered AIFs; 142 Startups Supported by June 2018.
The Government of India has established the Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS) to support the funding needs of startups, with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) as the monitoring agency and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) as the operating agency. FFS contributes to SEBI-registered Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), which are required to invest at least double the FFS contribution in startups. As of June 30, 2018, 142 startups have received support. A Monitoring Committee, including representatives from various government departments, regularly reviews the progress of the Startup India programme.
