<h1>India Launches New CPI Series Based on 2010=100 Base for Rural, Urban, and Combined Areas Starting January 2011.</h1> The Central Statistics Office, under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, has launched a new series of Consumer Price Indices (CPI) based on the 2010=100 base for rural, urban, and combined areas across India, effective from January 2011. The provisional indices for June 2011 and final indices for April 2011 have been released. Urban indices include data from house rent schedules collected between January and June 2011, while rural areas exclude this due to negligible rent expenditure. The general indices for June 2011 are 109.9 for rural, 107.3 for urban, and 108.8 combined. State/UT-specific indices are also available.
