India's Business Confidence Index Drops 2.5%, But Capacity Utilization Improves; Ease of Doing Business Ranking Rises to 100.
The National Council for Applied Economic Research's 101st Business Expectations Survey revealed a 2.5% decline in the Business Confidence Index from April to July 2017. This decrease was attributed to worsening perceptions of the investment climate, economic conditions, and firms' financial positions over the next six months. However, there was an improvement in capacity utilization, rising from 91.6% to 97.1%. The government implemented reforms such as online industrial licensing and integration of services to boost business confidence, resulting in India's improved ranking in the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business Report, moving from 130 to 100.
