<h1>Cabinet Approves Extension of MPLADS with Rs. 11,850 Crore Funding for Local Community Projects Until March 2020.</h1> The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by the Prime Minister, has approved the continuation of the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) until March 31, 2020. The scheme will receive an annual allocation of Rs. 3,950 crore, totaling Rs. 11,850 crore over three years, with an additional Rs. 5 crore annually for monitoring and training. MPLADS funds are allocated to district authorities to create community assets addressing local needs like water, education, health, sanitation, and roads. Since its inception in 1993-94, the scheme has sanctioned 18,82,180 works worth Rs. 44,929.17 crore, significantly impacting local communities.
