India's Commerce Ministry to Unveil Policy for Boosting Global Market Access and Exports of Agricultural Products.
The Commerce and Industry Ministry of India plans to introduce a policy framework to enhance global market access for Indian agricultural products, as announced by the Union Minister. The initiative aims to develop a global supply chain for the agriculture sector and remove trade restrictions to boost exports. This move aligns with the government's goal to double farmers' income by 2022 through crop diversification, allied sectors, and food processing. In 2016-17, agricultural exports reached approximately USD 16.27 billion. The ministry also intends to establish agri parks in India to support this agenda.
