<h1>Cabinet Approves Renaming SAMPADA Scheme to PMKSY; Aims to Boost Food Processing, Farmers' Income, and Rural Jobs.</h1> The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the renaming of the SAMPADA scheme to Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) for 2016-20, aligning with the 14th Finance Commission cycle. With a financial allocation of Rs. 6,000 crore, PMKSY aims to modernize processing, reduce agri-waste, and enhance farmers' income. It is expected to leverage Rs. 31,400 crore in investment, handle 334 lakh MT agro-produce, benefit 20 lakh farmers, and generate over 530,000 jobs by 2019-20. The scheme will boost the food processing sector, improve supply chains, and reduce agricultural produce wastage, while also supporting rural employment and exports.
