At present 39 Debt Recovery Tribunals (DRTs) are functioning in the country.
Government had decided to open six new DRTs at Ernakulam (Kerala), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Hyderabad (Telangana), Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Chandigarh (UT) and Siliguri (West Bengal). All these DRTs have already been established and started functioning in the financial year 2016-17.
This was stated by Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Minister of State for Finance in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
Debt Recovery Tribunals expansion: new tribunals established and commenced functioning to enhance recovery infrastructure nationwide. The Government established and operationalised six additional Debt Recovery Tribunals at Ernakulam, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Dehradun, Chandigarh and Siliguri, which commenced functioning in the financial year 2016-17 following a government decision, as announced by the Minister of State for Finance in a parliamentary reply.Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
