<h1>Income Tax Department Issues 5,100 Notices Post-Demonetization; Seizes Valuables Worth Rs. 610 Crore in Operation Clean Money.</h1> Following the demonetization on November 8, 2016, the Income Tax Department collected data on cash deposits in bank accounts, including Jan Dhan accounts. Over 5,100 notices were issued for verification of deposits made between November 9, 2016, and January 10, 2017. More than 1,100 actions, including searches and seizures, were conducted, resulting in the seizure of valuables worth over Rs. 610 crore, with undisclosed income exceeding Rs. 5,400 crore. Cases have been referred to the Enforcement Directorate and CBI. Under Operation Clean Money, measures were implemented for data collection, analysis, and enforcement actions against high-risk cases.
