India Mandates Electronic Payments for MCA 21 Services to Enhance Speed and Efficiency; Full Transition by October 2011.
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs in India has decided to enhance its service delivery by mandating electronic payments for MCA 21 services. Effective from March 27, 2011, payments up to Rs. 50,000 must be made electronically. This change aims to reduce delays caused by the slower confirmation process associated with physical challans, which follow a T+3 reporting timeline. Electronic payments, benefiting from a T+1 reporting time, facilitate faster processing and approvals. For payments exceeding Rs. 50,000, stakeholders initially have the option to choose between electronic or paper challan payments, with a full transition to electronic payments by October 1, 2011.
