Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras to be extended to all over the Country
“SANKALP” for Livelihood Promotion Programme to be Launched at a cost of ₹ 4000 Crores

The Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Shri Arun Jaitley while presenting the General Budget 2017-18 in Parliament today said that the Government proposes to extend the number of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras from current 60 to cover more than 600 districts across the country. He said 100 India International Skills Centres will be established across the country. These centres would offer advanced training and also courses in foreign languages. This will help those of our youth who seek job opportunities outside the country.

The Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley said that in the Financial Year 2017-18, a programme SANKALP (Skill Acquistion and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion Programme) will also be launched at a cost of ₹ 4,000 crore. SANKALP will provide market relevant training to 3.5 crore youth.

 

Expansion of national skill centres to broaden vocational training access and launch SANKALP for large-scale market-relevant training. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras will be expanded to cover more than six hundred districts and one hundred India International Skills Centres will offer advanced and foreign language training to support outward employment. The centrally proposed SANKALP programme will provide market-relevant vocational and employability training at scale to promote livelihoods and align skills provision with labour-market needs.
